I sometimes feel like fashion is this very "untouchable" object and although it's quite artistic and beautiful and exciting, it also perpetuates damaging stereotypes and unrealistic images onto people. It's astonishing how some fashion folks can't even see the implications of their actions. I don't think anyone necessarily does things with 'bad' intentions in mind, but it definitely startles me to some of the things fashion idolizes - even though it may damage and ruin the health and well-being of the very customers fashion serves. That's what has been contradicting profusely in my brain since September.
So, I'm not really sure if I want to be invested in such an industry anymore if this really is the case. But I still do appreciate the art and beauty that comes from fashion, but not necessarily the practical implications of that industry.
As a quick update: I'm been mostly moping around, going to school, studying, drinking endless amounts of coffee and honey tea. I've been sick a good TWO whole times since I've last posted. And I still can't wait until the time comes to leave for New York or Los Angeles (still trying to figure this out!). I'll be graduating next year, so ahh, the real world awaits.
In the meantime, I'm throughly enjoying the holiday season, and will probably go back to being (somewhat) fashionable once I scour through the amazing holiday fashion discounts (hah!). I'll be posting a couple of fashion images, but 'til then, have a great holiday!
