She's Back

Ladies and gents, I present to you: Ali Michael.

Back, better and bolder than ever.

Polaroids courtesy of Elite Model Management.

Lana Del Rey

Born to Die.

I have to say, I like her first album much more. But her jazzy undertones and dark voice? Love it.
If you haven't heard much of her, I highly recommend listening to "Yayo" and "Videogames" on youtube
or the like. She's so swingin' 50's/60's and nostalgic. Also I think this album cover is enough to warrant listening.
It looks like the cover of a fashion magazine!

We Are Strong

Currently studying for finals. Won't be done until next Wednesday.
But til then, I'll just grit my teeth and make it through the next few days.

Here's a beautifully taken photograph by William Hacker to serve as an
ounce of motivation: yes, life is tough. But we all get through it, one way..

A Sofia Coppola Moment

Sofia Coppola is my idol.
No, really.

Photo of a face

Meet Lesley Hann - bassist and vocalist in Friends.
I love the slightly retro and raw vibe.
And the light is just superb.

It's not just models and fashion all the time

I'm a violinist and I have a passionate love for all things classical (believe it or not!).
I just encountered this video today and I'm stunned.
What do you have when you add an amazing cellist and beatboxing into the mix?
PURE. MUSIC. SEX. It's absolutely incredible. Check it out! Julie-O!

This kid's just goning to be big

Tima (Tymofii) Velykodnyi. Featured on models.com - I just know it! He reminds me of a model version of Sam Riley. I don't know why, but he does.

The older you are, the wiser you'll be

Hats off to Wall Street Journal Magazine. Putting non-16 year olds, much less (my gosh!) photographing them in a major publication? WELL DONE. Here's a series of photographs taken of a rather wise and beautiful lady by the name of Joan Juliet Buck. Bravo for a job well done! SEE. Now I actually want to go and purchase the jewelry. She got class and she ain't faking it, lemme tell you.

Beautiful Nudes: Pirelli Calendar 2012 (NSFW)

WARNING: NSFW - NOT SAFE FOR WORK (you've been properly warned, again)

My favorite general fashion blog (New York Times - the cut) just posted a gallery of images from the 2012 Pierlli Calendar. And I can say, I am by far not disappointed. Yes, these are nudes (get over it America), but they're so tastefully and beautifully done that they could be truly works of art. It's not sexy, it's not over-the-top, and most importantly, it's art. This is what real photography should be about - so thank you for doing so! Also watch out for the iconic body shot of Kate Moss. It's going to be iconic, there's no doubt about here. Anyways, here are my favorite shots from the calendar.

Musings in black and white: post midterm

These were photos that I had been meaning to post up, but I got caught up with studying for my midterm (or should I say cramming for goodness sake!). Glad to say it is all done, and as a self-reward, I'm posting up everything that I haven't had time to do. Enjoy!

And one more:

RUSSH

Okay, I lied

These photos were too good that I had to break my vow and come back and post 'em. Happy studying, happy studying! Irina shot by Juergen Teller.

Warning: a temporary farewell!

I’ve decided last night that I need to get a grip with reality.

My parents are paying all of this money for my tuition and housing just so I can have a fantastic education, inside and outside of the school room. And I’m not about to waste their efforts.

The first couple of months here, I was very grounded: I did all of my readings before hand and studied (really studied) like crazy.

I’m slacking off. I haven’t done my ethics readings in weeks (try 4). I have god-knows-how-many pages in psychology to do. And my psychology midterm is in two days. And I haven’t even started studying for it.
I procrastinate on average about 3 hours just to get 1 hour of work done. I’m slowly dipping down the slippery slide to wasted time.

What is the point of that? I love everything I’m learning, but I keep thinking about it in terms of an obligation. True, it is in a sense. But it also isn’t - it’s about learning and expanding our knowledge.

After seeing how grounded and dedicated to education she was, Emma Watson has inspired me to take control of my own life and my own education.

Like her too, I’m not going to make my parents work so hard just so I can waste their money and their efforts. Likewise, I have already accomplished so many beautiful things. I’m not going to waste my efforts, my intelligence, my hard work, and my dedication to succeed go to waste either. I’m just NOT.

Therefore: I’ll be sad to leave you all. In fact, I’m leaving all forms of social media (tumbler, facebook, blogspot) and all of those fashion websites that I go to so much to procrastinate on. It’s done. I’m done.

Look out for me around the 22nd, when I’ll be officially done with this school year! But yes, I’ve already worked so hard and I’m not going to let something that can obviously wait (hello blogspot!) ruin everything I have tried hard at.

So a temporary farewell! And please don’t be afraid to do the same.
