This blog was never meant to just be a fashion blog. Remember? Part personal? What happened to that? Well, it never happened, that's what.
Time to bring some sense of self back, asap.
Don't get me wrong, I love fashion. But fashion is meant to be personal, and I think just as with every outfit, every maxi-skirt and every designer bag that we all adoringly crave for but like-mindedly, can't afford,
There's also a personal story, anecdote, lesson-to-be-learned, with every inch of fabric, article of clothing, wearable art.
As a college-almost-graduate, my life as a single fashion-obsessed, art-fanatic and gender studies-extraordinaire (I kid), has actually ostracized, rather than helped me, in any shape, way and form.
You see, being 'single' (as in, not being in a relationship) carries stigma. And it also makes people see you as odd, and perhaps have them guessing at your sexuality.
Well ladies. Girls. Future Queens of futuristic and fabulous countries around the world.
Let's embrace our single-ness.
I raise a toast and yell out, f, yeah.
There's nothing wrong with not having a boyfriend, a husband, you name it. Nothing is wrong with you. You are strong. You are beautiful.
And don't let the world ever tell you otherwise.
(Also as a note: I'm not trying to do some reverse gender studies damage. I advocate for all women; but I'm also a big fan of the opposite sex and their daily oppression and stigma that they go through themselves. But just for an ounce of girlpower, I'm writing this post. F, yeah!)
