It's Asia's moment. The region's economic power is growing everyday, and so are its' export of the next generation of (asian) supermodels in a global context. First, there was Du Juan. And then Liu Wen came, exploding the scene as models.com's sixth ranked international face and the current ambassador to Estee Lauder (a no easy feat). Other faces like Shu Pei, Fei Fei Sun and currently, Sui He, have also been exploding into the high fashion market like no other. Vogue covers are now flying off the racks and high fashion campaigns (um, hello Valentino) are featuring asian models more than ever. It's a proud moment to finally see some diversity in the (all white) fashion world. But where are the other minority model faces? I'd love to see real inclusion one day by having the fashion world embrace more non-white models (and no, I don't mean a Brazilian model who pretty much is white). Where are the south asian girls? Central American models? Moroccan models? Etc...
While I leave you to ponder about this question, here's a photo of a (relatively) new face: Miao Bin Si shot by Kathrin Mueller Hefftner for Fashion Gone Rogue.
